the dresses are pretty spiffy, the jewelry gives me NOTHING, and the makeup is horrendous.

I really can not stand that "look, slutty little girls" thing. SO not okay with that. I get the "lolita" fetish, mind you. I just do not get the "fetish makes good fashion" thing. I never have, and I never well. Keep the fetishes out of the fashion, unless it is specifically meant to BE fetish fashion.

granted, the added "look, my models partied too hard last night, are half starved, and no one can be bothered to cover that up with a good light reflecting base and powder" crap bugs me too. ;)

It's one thing when you are specifically going for the half-dead zombie freakshow thing. It's a wholly different story when you are doing it for the high fashion runways.

a lot of folks are blaming the models for how they look. I blame the makeup artists. Most models look like that all the time, and really, so does more than half of the western world (not weight wise, but with the dark circles and all). The difference is lighting and makeup. You and I both know that. Someone should tell Molinari.
