(no subject)

Reminder time!!!!!
Attention Jen, read below immediately and everyday:

The 4 Agreements:

BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

DON'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want to say directly to them. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse, and regret.

Very good agreements to hold with the world.

[identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
They are even better when you hold them with yourself. ;)

I'm saving this. Important things to be reminded of.
Thank you, cutestuff.

very good book.

well done

with the exception of one minor addtion, I could not have put it better myself. The addition:
In the notes under ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST should be added "accept that your best is just that and do not beat yourself up about it not being more".

*smoochies*

It is a MUST READ! It's small, too. (I like that, I don't have a lot of time to read)

Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz. They have it at Barnes and Noble too I know.

seen a few people talk about stuff in it. I am not certain I need to read it, so much. It appears to be all of the things that I teach people to do as well.

realistic goals, solid boundries, acceptance of self, don't take it personally. All of the exerpts that have been posted from that book could have been written by someone following me around (which is really kinda creepy, to be honest).

I would actually recommend it even *more* then. Since it's what you believe in already. I believed in some of it before (some I had not thought of yet), and they are very good at putting things into words and analogies that really make sense when talking to anyone about things like this. Just the fact that there are only 4 Agreements makes it really easy to remember these things during the day, and share them with people who ask. ;)

It might do good at least to skim over it at the bookstore then. There are whole chapters on each Agreement, as well as a base for those to adhere to and such.

I didn't think I needed to read it either, but there are a lot of things in there that I had not though of, even though they seem like I should have. It's a pretty fast read and totally worth it. I don't agree with *everything* in the book, but enough of it that I now have 3 of the 'series' (companion books).

skimming it at the the bookstore is a good idea. I will do that. If nothing else, if I know that it is really in sync with what I am teaching and preaching, I can save time by point people at it. ;)

I am glad you are still reading that book I gave you. I cant tell you how much its helped me since I started it. Wait, does that make me some kind of bible-thumper now?

[identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA. I feel like I'm selling something every time I talk about it because I get so excited about it too...lol

[identity profile] vorona.livejournal.com 2006-06-15 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's a great list. So simple. Such a challenge. So inspiring. If only I could do that just a little bit more... just a little. Any degree of keeping these four principles would help. One day of it, a week of it, anything. And that's an indication of a usable plan... room for human error, room for immediate improvement.

[identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Have you read the book? It's one of the simplest, yet completely life changing attitudes I've ever taken and I know I've been a lot happier since. (sheesh, I sound like I'm selling it or something...lol) I have all the books. They are nice and small. ;D

[identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
I *heart* the Four Agreements.

I printed them out (about fortune cookie paper size) and taped them to my monitor when I worked out of the house. It helped *A LOT* to see them every day and reminded me when I was dealing other people...ESPECIALLY number 2 and 3. It's hard to remember those when things catch you off guard or get heated.

You rock Jen. *smooch*
